New Castle resident Matthias, Valedictorian for Colorado Connections Academy’s Class of 2026, is graduating with nearly 35 college credits completed through the school’s dual enrollment offering with Colorado Mountain College.                         
 
Matthias is pursuing a career in aviation, including hands-on training opportunities through the Glenwood Springs airport and a pathway toward earning his private pilot certification. His interest in flying was sparked through a Young Eagles flight experience, part of a nationwide effort encouraging students to explore careers in aviation. He also credits his online school experience with helping him build real-world skills like time management, financial literacy, and balancing work with academics.

“Colorado Connections Academy helped me learn how to manage my schedule and balance school with work, hobbies, and college classes,” said Matthias. “The flexibility allowed me to stay ahead academically while also exploring my passion for aviation and preparing for my future.”
