High School Student
Mackenzie Kring (from Peyton, Colo.) competes internationally for air rifle and precision rifle sports.
If you were to ask her the favorite destination she's been to - she'll tell you Estonia, which she visited for a competition last December. Mackenzie started the sport only a few years ago and is now USA Shooting Rifle & Pistol Olympic Trials bound from Sept. 28-Oct. 4 in Columbus, Georgia. Her dream is to become a pilot for the Navy and in order to get into the Naval Academy she needed a sport. With both parents being retired police officers, she selected rifle as her sport. She was a natural from the start and quickly made her way to ranking top three for her sport.
Mackenzie trains 50 hours a week at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs with her coach, silver medalist Lucas Kozeniesky. Because of her demanding schedule, two years ago she enrolled at Colorado Connections Academy which allows her flexibility in her schedule and gives her freedom to travel for competitions.
