Deanna Woerner is the Elementary Assistant Principal at Arizona Connections Academy. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, and her master’s degree in education from Nothern Arizona University. Ms. Woerner began teaching in 1996 and joined Arizona Connections Academy in 2014. She now teaches kindergarten core courses, as well as art, technology, and physical education. Ms. Woerner shares below what she loves about teaching at Arizona Connections Academy.

I love working closely with the families as a team to help students become successful learners. I also love the close relationships I build with my students through one-on-one contact. Arizona Connections Academy community offers great field trip opportunities with families who want to connect and share experiences.

The benefit of an online setting is the important role that the parent plays in the student’s education. Also, as a teacher, I find I am able to offer more one-on-one attention to students than I was able to in a bricks-and-mortar school, and create more individualized instruction. Now I can spend my time doing what I love: teaching and working with kids!

An education at Arizona Connections Academy helps prepare students for their future because they are receiving instruction based on their individual learning style. I would tell parents who are making the decision to enroll that it takes some time to adjust to the schedule and feel comfortable with change, but being able to work as a team with the parent, student and teacher is incredibly rewarding.”
