Elementary Teacher

Angela Felkins is an elementary teacher at Arizona Connections Academy. She began teaching in 2011 and joined Arizona Connections Academy in 2016. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from New Mexico State University and her post-baccalaureate degree in elementary education from Rio Salado College. Ms. Felkins shares more about herself below:

“After receiving my degree in psychology, I worked as a social worker for many years. When my children were born, I decided to stay home with them until they were in grade school. At this time I began working in the school so I could still be off when they got home. Having the close interaction with teachers and students really created a passion in me for teaching. I went back to school and received my teaching degree. Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions.

At Arizona Connections Academy there is a sense of community and I am able to spend so much more time working with students and families. Students come here for a variety of reasons, but they all want to fit in and feel they are important. We strive to allow students to take risks and have a growth mind-set. I have always enjoyed the live interaction with students. Fifth graders are fun, are inquisitive, and are able to really participate in our LiveLesson sessions.

"Not every student does well sitting at a desk surrounded by other students who may learn at a different pace. Our school gives students and Learning Coaches the ability to create the best safe and flexible environment for them."
