Helping Students Succeed

With master’s degrees and specialized training in developmental and educational psychology, our online guidance counselors help students address the personal, social, and academic issues that can affect their success in school and in life.

At California Connections Academy, our online school counseling program is built on relationships, so our counselors are readily accessible to students and families—online, in person, and by phone. With the additional support from our national Connections Academy office and its collaborative network of school counselors across the United States, our counselors bring both individual attention and national expertise to our students and families.

Meet Mia Hardy

Director of Counseling

Mia Hardy brings extensive school counseling experience to California Connections Academy schools. Ms. Hardy uses proactive therapeutic methods in order to promote academic, social, and behavioral development among all students. She is a creative professional who is skilled in working with students of diverse backgrounds, such as the underrepresented student populations—African American, Native American, and Hispanic/Latino—from elementary school through undergraduate levels of education. She specializes in program planning and implementation and college and career readiness.

Ms. Hardy’s number one priority is to prepare all students to pursue a post-secondary education at any level and remove academic, social, and emotional barriers by providing a multi-tiered system of support. Ms. Hardy encourages students to maximize their educational opportunity and achieve their fullest potential for growth. She says, “I have always been driven to educate our youth on unforeseen opportunities. I have a personal goal to be resourceful for all students and educate them on the importance of pursuing post-secondary educational goals and lifelong learning.”

"It is that the individual has within himself or herself vast resources for self-understanding, for altering his or her self-concept, attitudes and self-directed behavior—and that these resources can be tapped if only a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided."
