As a tuition-free virtual school, California Connections Academy @ Capistrano* brings a fully accredited public education directly into the homes of students throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties.

California Connections Academy @ Capistrano* is operated by Capistrano Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. The school is governed by an independent Board of Directors and all meetings are open to the public. School Administrator Heather Tamayo

Meet Heather Tamayo

School Site Administrator

Heather Tamayo serves as the middle school principal for all four California Connections Academy schools. She has worked in education for more than twelve years in several capacities and joined Connections Academy in 2011. Mrs. Tamayo taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in the Palm Springs Unified School District. She also helped develop curriculum for middle school students, and has an extensive background working with English language learners.

Mrs. Tamayo states, “I have a deep appreciation for the flexibility of the California Connections Academy learning environment and how we are able to work with students and families who are looking for something beyond the traditional setting. Every day I am amazed and encouraged by the families we serve as well as the teachers and staff who so adeptly support them. This is truly an amazing school. We work to cultivate students who are prepared for the responsibilities and rigor of the 21st century. I am humbled and proud to say that I am part of the Connections Academy team!”
