Jamie Kosmerick is a Learning Coach at Michigan Connections Academy for her son Nolan and her son Ethan recently graduated. Jamie shares her experiences with Michigan Connection Academy below.
Why We Chose Michigan Connections Academy
We have two children with multiple medical conditions that require round-the-clock care. After much research, we found Michigan Connections Academy and have been thrilled to have a public school accredited program that we could do from the safety of our home while caring for our children.
Finding the right school for our children was a huge relief for our family. Our oldest started Michigan Connections Academy after attending his first two years at a brick- and-mortar school and the transition was very simple. We were so happy with the teaching staff and curriculum that we started our younger son in the kindergarten program.
Our Online School Experience
We have early risers in our household, so the ability to start school early in the morning and complete lessons gives Nolan the time he needs in the afternoon to pursue his interests that are outside of school. Before graduating, our oldest was very active in computer technology and enjoyed taking courses that helped enhance his skills, while our youngest loves nature and science and has enjoyed the many extended lessons that pique his interest.
The teachers and support staff are amazing at communicating directly with parents and students. The students have weekly calls with their homeroom teachers and weekly LiveLesson® sessions with their other subject-specific teachers. The teachers are always willing and ready to answer questions and engage actively with parents and students.
