Online School Enrollment for the 2020–21 School Year

  • Michigan Connections Academy has an enrollment cap of 1,735 students. The cap has been met in grades 1–5, 7-9, 11, and 12.
  • The new student open application period was from February 29, 2020 through March 30, 2020. After accounting for returning students, grade 11 was oversubscribed at the end of the application period, and new students requesting this grade were selected for enrollment through a random lottery drawing that was held on April 13, 2020 at 2pm. To qualify for the lottery, students must have completed all tasks except for course placement.
  • Parents/legal guardians of students who completed all enrollment tasks during this period have been notified of the lottery results via email. Parents/legal guardians of students selected in the lottery have 5 business days to accept an offer of enrollment sent via email; if they fail to accept such offer within the 5 days, they shall forfeit the student's space to the next student on the list. Students not selected in the lottery were placed on a lottery waiting list chronologically in the order in which their names are drawn in the lottery. Students on the lottery waiting list will be notified and released to enroll if space becomes available in their grade.
  • The school will continue to accept new applications for grade 11. These students will be placed on an enrollment waiting list in order of when they complete all enrollment tasks. Students on the enrollment waiting list will be notified and released to enroll if space becomes available in their grade. Students on the enrollment waiting list will only be considered for a space once the lottery waiting list has been exhausted.
  • Students in grades K, 6, and 10 will be enrolled on a first come/first served basis until the cap is reached. Once the cap is met, students who complete all enrollment tasks will be placed on a waiting list and released to enroll based on space available in the student's grade and the date order that enrollment tasks were completed.
  • Students enrolling in grades 1–5, 7-9, 11, and 12 will be placed on a waiting list once all enrollment tasks are completed and released to enroll based on space available in the student's grade and the date order that all enrollment tasks were completed.
  • First semester enrollment is open.
