Colton
Middle School
Colton is a middle school student at Inspire, the Idaho Connections Academy. He lives in Meridian, Idaho with his parents and older brother, Braedon, who is also an Inspire student. Colton values Inspire's flexible scheduling for providing him with various opportunities to further explore his academic interests. His mom shares his story below.
"Colton is in middle school at Inspire, the Idaho Connections Academy. He is an active, creative kid who loves to fly-fish and catch fish with flies that he ties himself! He also loves spending time in the backcountry and backpacking with his Boy Scout troop. Colton was recently elected leader of his Boy Scout patrol. When he isn't outside, he spends his time creating stop-motion videos of his LEGOs.
Colton enjoys the flexibility that Inspire offers him. As a family, we can venture to museums, historical sites, and science centers to supplement the materials taught at school. This gives Colton the ability to explore what he is learning in greater depth—an opportunity he has found only at Inspire. With Inspire, Colton has the opportunity to tailor the curriculum to his needs and interests. He enjoys his Gifted and Talented Literature Study class and looks forward to the Gifted and Talented science class next year!

Colton benefits from the regular field trips with other families at the school. He has made several close friends in his class and looks forward to spending time with them on these trips. The latest school excursion was to Bruneau Dunes State Park. It was one of his favorites. He had a fantastic time rolling down the dunes with friends during the day and gazing at the stars and planets at night.
