Jeff McLean
Secondary Assistant Principal
Jeff McLean is the secondary assistant principal at Colorado Connections Academy. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in education and educational leadership from the University of South Florida. Mr. McLean joined Connections Academy in 2012 and he shares his story below:
“I always had a passion for coaching and teaching, so when I was exploring career choices, it was an easy decision to pursue a degree in education. I am a math teacher at heart and have mainly taught 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade students, but I also spent a couple of years teaching 5th grade and a few years teaching at the high school level.
I love helping students find success and build their confidence in learning. For me, the biggest benefit of teaching at an online school is being able to work one-on-one with more students. Providing individualized instruction to students has such a huge impact on their learning. .
Attending school at Colorado Connections Academy provides students with a rigorous, well-rounded education that has a focus on college and career-readiness. Our younger students develop a strong connection with a caring and nurturing teacher who helps every student grow and have fun learning through engaging and interactive instruction. Our older students also build strong connections with passionate teachers and are guided along their continued educational journey. High school teachers provide students with a challenging and engaging curriculum that helps prepare them for life after high school, whether that be in college, a trade, or a career. Students can collaborate with each other and build friendships that last a lifetime.

One thing that I would tell a prospective parent about our school is how much our staff cares about every student. Our teachers go above and beyond to provide one-on-one support, and are so patient and willing to help students find success in their learning.
I have two teenage sons, one who is in college at Florida State University and the other is in high school. I love to travel, go snow-skiing (Copper Mountain, Heavenly, and Whistler are my three favorite ski resorts). I also enjoy boating, concerts, and exploring new places.”
