Lindsay Ross is a high school science teacher at Wyoming Connections Academy (WYCA). She started teaching in 2012 and joined WYCA in 2016. She has her bachelor’s degree in secondary education mathematics and secondary education biology from the University of Wyoming. Her teaching journey is shared below:
“I became a teacher because of a teacher I had in high school who helped me to enjoy a subject that I didn’t really like before. He had high expectations, and I rose to the occasion. I want to help my students in a similar way to be the best that they can.
An education at WYCA helps prepare students for a bright and successful future because the program is rigorous and challenging and helps students learn many skills beyond the concepts in their courses. I love teaching at WYCA because I enjoy the people I get to work with: my colleagues, my students, and their families. What I appreciate the most is getting to know my students on an individual basis.
If there was one thing I could tell a prospective parent, I’d encourage them to be actively supportive and involved in their student’s learning because that has a big impact on the student’s success.”
The benefit of online school I appreciate the most is getting to know my students on an individual basis.
