Manager of Counseling
MS, Counseling, Eastern Washington University
Rachel Thomas is the Manager of Counseling at Washington Connections Academy. Ms. Thomas joined the school in 2020 and shares her story below:
Why I Became an Educator
"I decided to become a school counselor so that I could be an agent for change. Mental health is such an important part of a student's life, and I wanted to be a school counselor to help students learn the skills they need.
"I love the ability that we have to work with students and individualize their academic, social, emotional, and college and career goals."

Our staff diligently works to establish strong supportive relationships with not only our students, but also with their families. We believe in a culture of equity and inclusion and strive to create that for every single student. Students are given the flexibility to pursue interests that enrich their academic and extracurricular interests.
My absolute favorite part of the job is getting to be a part of our students’ successes.”
