Sharon Lonergan is a middle and high school teacher at Washington Connections Academy (WACA). She began teaching in 2016 and joined WACA in 2019. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Washington, a master’s in teaching secondary social science from Western Governors University, and a juris doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law. Ms. Lonergan shares more about her experience below:
“Education was the key to lifting both my parents out of poverty. I felt called to pass that along to others from struggling backgrounds. I also believe that an educated citizenry is at the heart of any healthy democracy, and I wanted to be a part of educating future citizens.
“I like that we reach students who would otherwise struggle to succeed in a bricks-and-mortar school. I am looking forward to being more available for my own family while also working hard to serve students and their families.
“Washington Connections Academy provides students an option for a high-quality education when traditional options are not working. Your student will have the opportunity for a more individualized education and to have more one-on-one support.”
Ms. Lonergan loves coffee, the Northwest, hiking, camping, reading, and genealogy.
