Robin Garner is a high school English teacher at Washington Connections Academy (WACA). She began teaching in 2009 and joined WACA in 2018. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Central Oklahoma. She’s shares more about her experience below:
“I became a teacher because of the impact my teachers had on me as a student. At WACA, I feel like I am getting to work more one-on-one with students, as opposed to teaching large groups in brick-and-mortar school. There is so much support, which makes supporting our students even more efficient.
WACA teaches students how to self-start, find a work pace, and meet goals with little supervision. This is important in our world today especially as everything turns to technology. Students also learn in an environment that fits their daily schedules and lives. Students still get access to student and teacher interactions through LiveLesson sessions and field trips.
They greatest thing about WACA is support. Everyone here wants your child to be successful and is ready to help through any challenges that arise.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family at the beach. The ocean is my happy place!”
