Monica Stream is a high school teacher at Washington Connections Academy (WACA). She began teaching in 2014 and joined WACA in 2019. She attended Western Washington University and majored in sociology, then received a master’s in secondary education from Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Stream shares more about her experience below:
“I became a teacher because I had a teacher in high school who helped me understand my value and the impact I can make on the world. I want to help other students do the same.
“I love that Washington Connections Academy offers quality education that is outside of the traditional school setting. Attending Connections Academy® is a great way for students to get personalized instruction.
“The school’s innovative approach allows students to take ownership of their education in a more personalized setting. We don’t know what the future will be like, but giving students the tools to learn how to be innovative and responsible is crucial, and WACA automatically offers that for students.
“Everyone here is so committed to the success of all students. I’ve never worked with a more committed, caring, and knowledgeable staff.”
When she is not teaching, Ms. Stream enjoys running, hanging out with her dog, and pretending to be good at crafting.
