Meet Our Washington Connections Academy School Leader
Michael Lunde is the principal of Washington Connections Academy (WACA). Mr. Lunde began his career in education in 2004 and joined the Connection Education family in 2009. He has taught in both a traditional and online academic environment, and also served as assistant and interim principal of Wyoming Connections Academy. While at Wyoming Connections Academy, Mr. Lunde supported teacher collaboration throughout the school by establishing data driven, goal based professional learning communities.
Mr. Lunde is passionate about online learning because it meets the educational needs of all types of students and provides them with many opportunities. He has often stated that he wishes Connections Academy was around when he was in school. “The ability to individualize learning for each student is so much greater. Teachers have the tools and time to connect with each student one-to-one on a regular basis,” Mr. Lunde says.
Outside of being an educator, Mr. Lunde loves spending time with his family: his wife, two children, and dog. He also enjoys reading, skiing, running, and coaching youth sports.
