Middle School Student

Conner Bailey started attending Utah Connections Academy during COVID-19. He deeply appreciates our school’s flexibility because it allows him to schedule time to train for rock climbing and skiing and to complete his coursework on weekends and at night.

The Online School Experience at Utah Connections Academy

According to Conner, his favorite experience at our school has been “making it onto student council and the school’s advisory board. I was also really excited to get into the National Honor Society.

“My favorite subjects are science and social studies. … My favorite clubs and activities are leadership club and student council. They help me learn skills that help me do better in sports and school, as well as for the future, to get a job. I really like my social studies and math teachers because they make learning interesting. I used to hate math until they made it make more sense. I also like my counselor … she helps me learn things I can apply.

“I plan to go to Harvard to be an anesthesiologist. Utah Connections Academy has helped me have a deeper understanding of school stuff and understand how I learn best. This will help me be successful in college.”

“I love Utah Connections Academy because the flexible schedule makes it possible for me to train for [rock] climbing while doing school.”

Hobbies and Interests

Conner says, “I train for rock and ice climbing about 20 hours a week so I’m really busy. … Since I’m on the national youth climbing team, I train with them at the climbing training center where all the Olympians train. I’m going to St Lucia to go scuba diving and got my junior dive certification as a birthday present. I also really like Legos!”
