Brynn Homer is a high school math teacher at Utah Connections Academy (UCA). She began teaching at UCA in 2015 and has been a teacher since 2011. Ms. Homer received her bachelor’s degree in math education from Brigham Young University. She shares more about her experience at UCA below.
“I love being a math teacher! Math was easy for me in high school, and I enjoyed my classes. As a college student, however, I often felt like I did not understand the way the professor was teaching. I wanted to ask more questions, but there was not enough time in class. This experience gave me the drive to be a math teacher and find ways for all students to be successful in math.
Online school gives me the opportunity to help those students who have questions and need to learn mathematics in a different way than it is presented in a textbook. I have the flexibility to teach the whole class, to teach in small groups, and to help students one-on-one.
Utah Connections Academy gives students the tools to be successful. Students have the opportunities to take advantage of a teacher’s help, schedule their own time, and learn at their own pace each day. Every teacher and staff member at UCA believes in our students and knows they can be successful now and in the future. It is a great opportunity to learn and grow while allowing the parent to be involved in every step of the process.”
