Caylee Smith is a middle school student at Texas Connections Academy @ Houston (TCAH). She and her family are pleased with TCAH’s flexible schedule and selection of advanced courses. Learn more about Caylee’s story below.
“What works well for me at TCAH is that I can work at a time that suits me because I don’t have a specific course each hour. My favorite subjects are algebra, art, and Spanish. Algebra is my favorite subject because it is easy and sort of like a review for a lot of the things I learned last year in pre-AP seventh grade math. Art is another favorite because I like to draw, and I love Spanish because it is easy for me since I already know some of the vocabulary. I also have good relationships with my teachers. Whenever I have a question about something, I usually WebMail them and ask for help.
Outside of school, I am passionate about helping kids in our church’s summer camps and in Sunday school. I also love playing the clarinet. I manage my schedule around these interests by playing my clarinet in the morning before I start school. I help the kids in summer camps over the summer, and Sunday school class is every third Sunday of the month.
An activity that I like to do with friends is swim. I stay in contact with my friends from my previous school, as well as my previous teachers. Another way I stay in touch with my friends is through church on Wednesdays and Sundays.”
