Learning Coach
Nana is a Learning Coach to two elementary school students, Jatalie and Savannah. When her oldest was experiencing bullying, Nana looked for alternative education options and was overjoyed when her students were accepted to Tennessee Connections Academy.
Our Online School Experience
Connections Academy has so much to offer. My students are only five and six years old, and they’re learning how to use computers and developing typing skills at a young age.
We work side by side, and they do their work at their own pace. First I go through the course and see what pages they need to complete. If they struggle with reading and completing their work on paper, then they’re going to run into issues doing it on the computer, so I have them focus on their book work first. I give them additional work to make sure they understand it, and then they complete their work online.
I really love how the teachers give the students resources and links so they can get extra practice and can advance in the subject that they are learning. I communicate with their teachers online via WebMail and over the phone. I speak to Ms. Johnson and Mrs. Wingler in the mornings on the live chats.

Advice for Interested Families
My advice for families and Learning Coaches is to hang in there! It gets easier. We’ve completed our first semester, and it has been excellent. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure the students have what they need.
