Dylan Lockwood is a middle school student at Tennessee Connections Academy. He experienced bullying at his previous school and struggled with the coursework. He now enjoys learning in a fun, challenging, and safe environment. Read more of Dylan’s story below:
“I love Tennessee Connections Academy because learning is easy, and my teachers are available when I need help. The teachers are awesome and funny! I enjoy online live lessons, and I have learned so much. When I attended a
brick-and-mortar school for seventh grade and the first half of eighth grade, I failed all my subjects. I didn’t receive the help I needed because I felt rushed through assignments, and teachers would call me lazy.
“Tennessee Connections Academy allows me to talk to my teachers and get the help I need, and I’m able to work at my own pace. If I miss a class or don’t understand something, I can relisten to the recorded live lesson. My favorite subject is science because I learn hands-on with projects and fun experiments.
“I have a great relationship with my teachers. They are always available for me by email or phone if I need help. With my Learning Coach and teachers who care, I have been able to turn my grades around to As and Bs, and I have a lot more self-confidence.
“I enjoy playing computer games and going to skating parties with my friends. I stay in touch with friends via Snapchat or Facebook Messenger, and I also call them on the phone to chat. I like to write music and create songs and draw and make art projects. Tennessee Connections Academy allows me to work around my schedule if needed.”
