Online Middle School in South Carolina
The On-Ramp to Success
During middle school at South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA), online students begin to be more responsible for their own learning and become more independent in the process. SCCA strives to help middle school students realize their potential and all the possibilities that are open to them because of it.
As part of your student’s middle school experience, students begin working directly with their teachers. Learning Coaches then transition into a more supportive role. Virtual middle school students are urged to take control of their studies and are also held to higher standards as they advance toward high school.
Support for Online Middle School Students
While in middle school, SCCA students begin to work with qualified subject area teachers in their online courses. However, they do remain under the supervision of an assigned school counselor or advisory teacher for support. Students also actively contribute to and participate in various teacher-led virtual instruction sessions through our LiveLesson® tool.Using this tool, teachers may provide specific instructional help and also give students the opportunity to work more closely with their peers.
Course Electives and Activities
A student’s online education can be varied because SCCA offers many different subjects and activities as part of our middle school curriculum. SCCA’s online middle school program has a wide selection of elective courses and enables students to be involved in many school clubs and activities. Middle schoolers can participate in activities related to their interests and join clubs that add depth to their educational experience, such our Mathematical Olympiads or even writing for the school’s blog.
Also, with approval from their school counselor, gifted students may be given access to high school courses in order to start earning high school credit.
