Haley Campbell

SCCA student Haley singing on stage

Haley Campbell is a 2015 graduate of South Carolina Connections Academy (SCCA). Haley is happy that she was able to balance her flourishing music career with academics at SCCA. Her mom shares her story below.

“After spending her freshman and sophomore year at a local magnet school, Haley decided to finish her high school education online so that she could devote more time to music. Haley is a dedicated singer-songwriter. She spent a week in Nashville recording her debut album, ‘Hugs & Disses,’ and spent a lot of time preparing for her record release party. Not having to be in a bricks-and-mortar school was invaluable to Haley, who often stays up late when an idea for a song comes along. She also didn't have to get up too early to complete her lessons, and her teachers were always available when needed.

When searching for an online school, we found that SCCA offered the most AP and Honors classes so that Haley could maintain and maybe even improve her GPA. Haley also figured out that if she doubled up on English and social studies, she could graduate a year early and ask for a break before attending college if her music career were to suddenly take off. Her favorite subject was AP Psychology, and she plans to major in psychology and music therapy in college. Haley has applied and been accepted to Clemson, USC Columbia, and Florida Institute of Technology.

In her spare time, Haley writes songs and plays gigs around Charleston. Haley enjoys being part of the local Jr. roller derby team as co-captain. While attending SCCA, she kept in touch with her friends by arranging after-school get-togethers.”
