Danielle Leibig is an elementary school teacher at Reach Cyber Charter School (Reach Cyber). She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Below, Ms. Leibig shares what she loves about teaching at Reach Cyber.
“I became a teacher to help children know they are able to accomplish great things. I want all children to know they are awesome!
My favorite thing about teaching at Reach Cyber is the ability to work one-on-one with students. I find that the online platform allows children a safe and comfortable environment in which to learn. It limits the distractions typical of a conventional classroom. I encourage students to participate by using their camera and mics, encouraging a social atmosphere so they can form bonds. My lessons are interactive, and students are offered many opportunities to demonstrate by use of the virtual whiteboard. They love when I offer them the opportunity to ‘teach’ the class!
One of my favorite memories is from a language arts lesson. One of our stories was a play, so we divided the scenes and roles among the class. The students felt confident and were not nervous when reading their parts with emotion, changing their voices to fit the character. The kids had a blast! We laughed together and encouraged each other, and it turned out to be a fantastic lesson.”
Aside from teaching, Ms. Leibig enjoys traveling with her family to the beach or mountains.
