What Is Virtual School?
To find out what an online or virtual school is, check out the video above for a quick overview of our virtual online school’s award-winning curriculum and program, as well as our caring teachers, the technology we utilize, and our socialization opportunities.
The Virtual School Experience
PCA’s full-time online virtual school program offers students the chance to build their individual strengths and interests in a familiar and safe setting while still connected to a larger learning community. We share a common goal with parents: we want our students to become productive, successful, and confident adults who contribute to society.
Here are a few of the driving forces behind our unique approach to education and what makes our virtual online school stand out:
Free Online Education, Outstanding Curriculum
At Pecos Connections Academy, we offer students a fantastic, thorough, and free public online education. That means we will never ask for tuition and there will be no material fees. We pride ourselves on the fact that our online school programs meets all standards at the state and national level while also integrating the best materials, texts, and resources available. At Pecos Connections Academy, we create a
curriculum that creatively keeps students engaged.
Our teachers are at the foundation of the Pecos Connections Academy experience. These caring, dedicated teachers bring their talents and passions to their approach to teaching. All of our teachers are also certified and specifically trained to excel in online teaching. Our virtual school in New Mexico is attractive to teachers because they care about students and believe instruction that is personalized with opportunities for one-on-one interaction really does work.
We know that each and every student has unique abilities and that all students perform better when they receive individualized attention in a nurturing learning environment. These are the principles that form the foundation of Connections Academy’s
Personalized Performance Learning® approach. This method allows our online teachers to get to know the interests, learning styles, and skills of each individual student and to encourage talent development. This gives every student the best opportunity to excel. An individualized learning approach means that students can accelerate their pace on material they grasp easily and receive extra attention in areas of weakness.
At Pecos Connections Academy, we know that when a parent takes an active role in a child’s education, the student will prosper. Parents (or other trusted adults) have the opportunity to serve as their students’ virtual school
Learning Coaches. They can choose to be closely involved in their children’s daily education and take on an active role of support and encouragement for their student. Not only are parents able to see the real-time progress made by their student, but also it exposes parents to the most gratifying aspects of an online school program.
The technology we use in our program is loved by parents because of how easy it is to access curriculum, review grades, and schedule lessons.
Connexus® online learning system is user-friendly and makes all of this possible by giving students access to a collaborative and welcoming learning experience anywhere they can connect to the internet.
Socialization, Community, and Friendships
At Pecos Connections Academy, we believe that learning online doesn’t mean your student has to learn alone. Even in a virtual setting, we want our students to meet with each other regularly in the
online LiveLesson® sessions. This gives classmates the opportunity to share ideas, compare experiences, and have fun learning together. Students can also meet others with similar interests through our online clubs and activities.
At Pecos Connections Academy, we also offer in-person gatherings, activities, and field trips so students have a chance to interact outside the virtual classroom. The flexibility of the virtual school program allows students many opportunities to pursue other extracurricular activities in their neighborhoods.
