Why I Became a Teacher
According to Ms. McLaren, “My second-grade teacher was the kindest, most helpful teacher and made me want to emulate her. As soon as I began studying to become a teacher, I realized my passion for teaching reading and obtained my reading endorsement.”
“This school has a caring, knowledgeable staff that is invested in helping every student succeed and provides support wherever it’s needed.”

The Online School Experience at Willamette Connections Academy
When asked what she likes most about teaching at our school and the benefits of teaching here versus a brick-and-mortar school, Ms. McLaren said, “I enjoy the many kind, supportive people here who are open-minded and innovative. … An online public school like Willamette Connections Academy is an alternative that can benefit many students.”
My Personal Interests
Reports Ms. McLaren, “I love dogs and have started doggy sitting with my younger daughter, who is obsessed with animals. I also love spending time with my older daughter, hubby, and little pup. We enjoy most outdoor activities, including wake surfing, camping, paddle boarding, and snowboarding. I also enjoy baseball and fantasy football (especially when I’m winning)!
