Ms. Zahler is an elementary school teacher at Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA). She holds a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University and a master’s degree in teaching from Willamette University. Ms. Zahler began teaching in 2010 and now teaches a variety of subjects at ORCA.
Ms. Zahler shares more about her teaching experience below:
“I love learning and being a part of those ‘light bulb moments.’ I am passionate about helping to build a child’s confidence, and being a teacher is a great way to do so. I can get to know all of my students and families on a deeper level and help them learn in the most effective way possible. I have a ‘teacher’s aide’ (Learning Coach) for EVERY single one of my students! This allows us to work as a team to fulfill the needs of all of the children in my class. To prospective families that are deciding if ORCA is right for them, I would say that having an ORCA student means that they have a huge part in their child’s education. Families get to create their own schedules, and with the help of an experienced teacher, they can find what learning style suits their child the best in order to provide him or her with the best education possible. I’m the first to say that this type of learning environment may not be for everyone, but it is a fantastic choice for many!”
