Meet Our Oregon Connections Academy School Leader
Allison Galvin is the executive director for Oregon Connections Academy (ORCA). She has been in education since 2002 as a math teacher and instructional coach in the Salem-Keizer School District, and a school administrator with ORCA. While at ORCA, Allison has implemented many new programs and helped increase the graduation rate by 25% in three years. She also put the College Now program into effect, which is a program that allows students to earn college credit for select high school courses. Allison has been instrumental in developing credit recovery options for credit-deficient students, worked closely in developing ORCA's Graduation Coach, and helped to create an environment where teachers are empowered to continue to strive for excellence in engaging all students at a high level of learning.
In addition to her role at ORCA, Allison has also served as an adjunct professor for Corban University, where she taught courses in classroom management and methods of teaching mathematics, and worked closely with undergraduate students who were preparing for careers in education.
Because of her dedication and great work, she has been invited to lead professional development for many sessions through Oregon's Summer Institute program—a program dedicated to supporting the state's top educators.
