Lori Eads is an elementary school teacher at Oklahoma Connections Academy (OKCA). She has been teaching since 2001 and started with the school in 2017. Ms. Eads earned a degree in family relations and child development with an option in early childhood from Oklahoma State University. She shares her story below:
“I became a teacher because I have always loved children. I enjoy watching them learn and I want to be a part of that learning. Teachers play a big role in the lives of children, and I had so many teachers that impacted me that I wanted to be just like them.
“I love the option of an online school—the flexibility and getting to know the students and their families. A benefit of online schooling is the one-on-one opportunities for teaching. I feel that in an online school we get to know students better than at a brick[s]-and-mortar school.
“An education at Oklahoma Connections Academy helps prepare students for a bright and successful future because our expectations are high. Our curriculum is top notch and will prepare students for the best future. Everyone at Oklahoma Connections Academy is so helpful. We work together as a team and that is very important.
“If there was one thing I would tell a prospective parent as they are making a decision to enroll, it would be that our school is amazing. We work collaboratively with each other, parents, and students to make sure each student is successful.”
When Ms. Eads isn’t working, she spends time with her three boys at their sporting events with her husband. She also loves to do Pinterest projects, crafting, and reading.
I love the flexibility, and I love getting to know the students and their families.
