Dawson Vandeberghe

Dawson is a high school student at Oklahoma Connections Academy (OKCA). He is from Shawnee, Oklahoma. At OKCA, Dawson says learning has become a lot more enjoyable. He tells his own story below.

"My name is Dawson. I am in middle school, and a student at Oklahoma Connections Academy. My favorite subjects in school are social studies and English. I really like to read. I also love the field trips that they take us on. We get to see interesting things and spend time with the teachers and other students. There have been times in the past that learning has been difficult for me, but with OKCA learning has become easier and a lot more fun.

I love my teacher, Mrs. Gardner. She helps me to learn more about a subject than I did from just reading about it. Mrs. Gardner is a very good teacher. She lets me know when I’ve done a good job, and she calls me every week to see how I’m doing.

I like Connections Academy for a lot of reasons. I enjoy the social time we get with other students. I like the LiveLesson® sessions because it helps me better understand some of the things we are learning about. If I have a question, I can ask it during the lesson, and my teacher will use the virtual board to draw or write to help me. I also like the movies and virtual tools used during the lessons."
