Lincoln Clark was previously homeschooled by his mom, Annamarie. They decided to try looking for an alternative to homeschooling and found North Carolina Connections Academy. Lincoln is now enrolled as a middle school student and likes the flexibility of his lessons and the connection he has with his teacher. He shares more below:
“Before coming to North Carolina Connections Academy, I was homeschooled, and it was different. Now I am more scheduled. I start around 9:00 and try to finish by 3:00, including my reading and music practice, but some days I finish earlier. What I like best about Connections Academy is that it is flexible and the teachers are nice, especially Mrs. Hamlett. The classes are fun, and I enjoy the LiveLesson® sessions. My favorite subject is science, and I also like the way art is taught.
I enjoy sports, music, and drawing. I play on a soccer team right now. I take a martial arts class two times a week, and I go to art class once a week. I’ve been taking that class since kindergarten. If I have a pencil and paper, I will probably draw. I am also in a traditional and bluegrass music band with some friends, and we play at a lot of events. Recently, we played at the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) street festival in Raleigh on two different stages, which was fun.”
Outside of school, Lincoln is able to see friends in the variety of activities he participates in: church activities, soccer, band practice, art class, and martial arts, where he is learning both jujitsu and Muay Thai.
