EdTech Digest Visionary Award recipient, Mickey Revenaugh, is a self-described “evangelist for the power of high-quality online and blended learning – and a non-stop advocate for making online/blended learning opportunities available to every student.” She co-founded Connections Academy in 2001, helped launch the Connections Learning by Pearson division in 2011, and now serves as the Executive Vice President for Connections Education. For over 25 years she has been an advocate of education technology. Ms. Revenaugh helped start the multi-billion-dollar national E-rate program to wire every school and library in America to the Internet, serving as Vice President for Outreach and Education during the program’s crucial start-up years. She was also editor of education technology and education reform magazines at Scholastic, including Teaching & Computers, Electronic Learning, and America’s Agenda.  

Ms. Revenaugh has served on the board of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) as Chair and Vice Chair. She speaks and writes frequently on online/blended learning and educational innovation. Ms. Revenaugh graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Yale University and has an MBA from New York University.

He has held senior school district administrative positions where he was responsible for technology, facilities, special education, policy analysis, labor relations, budgeting, restructuring, and grants management. He also led KPMG Consulting’s Midwest education practice and was the senior educator for Education Networks of America.

As co-founder of Connections Academy, Dr. Guttentag has been at the forefront of virtual education in the U.S. He recognized early in his career that technology can and should be harnessed to make the best possible educational resources available to every student regardless of location. As Dr. Guttentag says, “Academic achievement should be the constant…when, where and how should be the variables.” Dr. Guttentag holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, a M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Policy and Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
