Nazalene Baksh

Nazalene and her son

Nazalene Baksh is a parent and Learning Coach to an elementary student at Nevada Connections Academy (NCA). She is pleased that NCA offers a wide variety of extracurricular courses, and that she can participate in her son’s learning. Nazalene shares her story below.

“I first became interested in Connections Academy from a television ad when my son was about to enter kindergarten. I am really enjoying the experience of being a Learning Coach to my son. It is very rewarding for me to be close to him during these formative learning years. I will cherish the memories of this time forever.

The convenience of working at home with my child makes Connections Academy a very pleasurable experience. We choose a schedule that works best for us, and keep in touch with his teacher regularly through bi-weekly phone calls and daily emails. It is very nice to be such a big part of his daily progress. My favorite subject to work on with him is language arts. He enjoys the science experiments the most–he wants to be a video game designer one day.

My student is a part of many activities including soccer, Legos, and gymnastics at the local community recreation center, where he has made many friends. He also studies guitar and piano with his father, and the French language online. Additionally, my student is registered in the advanced chess club with Connections Academy.”
