“I’ve always been a voracious reader, and it always boggled my brain when my friends didn’t want to read at all. It became my favorite game to find books to recommend to someone that would hook them in,” says Ms. Kraiter. “That transferred easily into a passion for getting students to love reading, if not as much as I do, then at least to find a genre or series that could draw them in! When a student calls me or sends me a WebMail message to tell me about the book they just finished, those are the absolute best moments for me.”
There are several reasons why Ms. Kraiter currently enjoys teaching at Falcon View Connections Academy. “First, I love being able to work one-on-one or in small groups with students so frequently, so I feel like I can give students as much help as they need with their work. Second, I love all the professional development we get here. I can sign up for multiple sessions each week to learn different tools to make me a better teacher. Third, I love my coworkers. You won’t find a more passionate, friendly, helpful group of people anywhere else. We are constantly working together and offering assistance every single day to help each other out as much as possible. We also strive to chat with every student every week, just to check in. There are frequent field trips so we can get to know them outside the curriculum too. We care, and I think our families can see that.
