Hayden Strong is a middle school student at Falcon View Connections Academy. He likes how attending online school enables him to take responsibility for his own learning schedule. Hayden shares more about his story below:
“I like being able to do school at home. I like the flexibility and being able to work at my own pace. Some lessons are spread out over two days, as it gives you more time to focus on them. For example, if you have two classes that have two-day lessons, you can choose to focus on one class one day and the other one the next day. That is nice if you feel like doing science one day and language arts the next day.
I manage my schedule by always completing school first. I usually work from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I take a walk every day at 1:30 p.m. with my dad and dog, and I get to enjoy animals and nature at that time. I get to spend extra time with my family since my mom and dad both work at home.”
Hayden’s favorite subject is science because he’s passionate about learning how things work. Compared to a traditional classroom setting, he likes the focused learning time he has with his teachers. Hayden says, “[My Connections Academy] teachers are not constantly stopping the class due to disruptive students. I appreciate my teachers. I know I can go to them with questions and they are always very helpful.”
In his free time, Hayden enjoys video games, science fiction movies, and boating. He hangs out with friends on the weekend and stays in touch through texts, FaceTime, and online video games.
