Ms. Jacobson-Flood is a secondary school English teacher at Minnesota Connections Academy (MNCA). She started her teaching career in 2002 and joined MNCA in 2008. Ms. Flood holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She shares her story below.
“I became a teacher because I love reading and writing, and I also love working with teenagers—their minds are brilliant, their growth is amazing, and their potential is endless. Having the opportunity to witness and share in a student’s learning is the best job in the world. Working alongside wonderful, passionate teachers and staff who care about learning is something I enjoy.
I taught for seven years in a bricks-and-mortar school before switching to online education. I really appreciate the opportunity to work more with students one-on-one and to personalize the curriculum to meet their needs. If a student has a question, he or she can contact me right away for help, and we can work together until the light bulb clicks on. This was difficult to achieve in a classroom of 35 to 40 students who were with me for 45 minutes at a time before running off to another class. In Minnesota, we are lucky to have school choice. If your child is motivated, works well independently, and is willing to work alongside a teacher, Connections Academy might just be the perfect fit for your family.”
