Why I Became a Teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of our youth. I had a lot of amazing teachers who shaped my life, and I wanted to give back what I was given.

The Online School Experience at Michigan Connections Academy

I truly believe that when a positive relationship is built, students, Learning Coaches, and staff want to do their very best. We set consistent expectations and make learning fun, which help students to be successful.
One of my favorite things about teaching at Michigan Connections Academy is the individualized education, which allows us to get students what they need to be successful. I love the relationship-building that is made possible by the small group and one-on-one time that happens. I also really enjoy getting to know all our families on school field trips!

Message for Families Considering Online School

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everyone here is happy to help. The transition be can tough, but we do our very best to make it as smooth as possible.

Hobbies & Interests

I am married to a fifth-generation farmer. We enjoy being on the family farm, especially during calving season. I also enjoy spending time with my son and all the activities he’s involved in. One of my other passions is advocating for educational opportunities for all students.
