Why I Became an Educator
Several years after college, I decided to spend a year substitute teaching. I had so much fun with the students, I knew no other job would be as fulfilling and enable me to make such a positive impact. I went back to school and got my teaching certificate. I love helping each student develop into the best person they can be.
At Lighthouse Connections Academy, I get to know students on a much deeper level than in a traditional brick-and-mortar classroom. I’m able to build a relationship with each student through regular phone calls, on-camera LiveLesson® sessions, and in-person field trips.
My favorite part of being an advisor here is talking with students every day. Helping them navigate the day-to-day of lessons and courses is just one part of my job. I love learning about their special skills, talents, and interests.
The Online School Experience at Lighthouse Connections Academy
This school creates a welcoming community for parents and students, starting with the welcome phone call every family receives from their teacher. It’s a chance to ask questions and get to know each other and is the start of developing a good relationship.
Lighthouse Connections Academy offers more flexibility and one-on-one support for students than typical brick-and-mortar schools. Students here have a lot more control over their lessons. Teachers, advisors, and counselors all work together to support students on their educational journey.
This school helps prepare students for a bright future by giving them a solid foundation of knowledge and skills with which to enter the workforce, trade school, college, or whatever their next steps might be. We impart not just academic skills, but real-world skills such as time management, motivation, organization, and grit.
"This school is a great place for families to be active participants in their child’s education. It allows for the triangle of learning between school, student, and family.”
