Tarcha is a Learning Coach for her daughter Nala. They chose Lighthouse Connections Academy in 2020. Here’s what she had to say about being a Learning Coach.
We learned about Lighthouse Connections Academy through a lot of research. We like the curriculum that was provided; it was in keeping with schooling that Nala was already taking.
Why We Chose Lighthouse Connections Academy
We love that everything is online first and foremost. The Learning Coach role was also important, because I want to be a part of my daughter’s education.
Our Online School Experience
We were able to pace at the level that Nala felt comfortable with. With first day jitters, we were able to take it slow with no worries about being penalized for not submitting lessons. When she's extremely focused then we’re able to excel in lessons.
As her Learning Coach - I'm overwhelmed with joy when I hear her talking about her lessons with other people weeks and weeks after the lessons and she's explaining them in detail and what she learned.
She loves her teacher, Mrs. Wildner, and spending time in live lessons with her classmates. Nala loves math–even though she says she doesn't. There are many days that we complete two or three math lessons in one day because she wants to continue with it, and to be provided with all the extra math supplies is a plus.
Nala has been able to stay connected with friends through church, playdates, and video chats. We've stayed connected with Nala's teacher via email and some phone calls. Outside of school, Nala is very active with karate, bike and scooter riding, and tumbling. She also loves anything music related.
