Sherrie Buchzeiger

Sherrie Buchzeiger joins Lighthouse Connections Academy (LCA) as the school’s principal. Authorized by Oxford Community Schools, Lighthouse Connections Academy serves students in grades K–12 throughout Michigan and offers families a flexible, personalized approach to education.

Ms. Buchzeiger says, “As an educator, I have long held that education is an experience that should be unique and tailored to the specific needs of each student. I am committed to creating an environment that fosters creativity and academic excellence at Lighthouse Connections Academy, while instilling confidence in students and helping them realize their own ability to succeed.”

Ms. Buchzeiger, comes to Lighthouse Connections Academy with more than 12 years of experience in education, and most recently served as Detroit Pershing High School’s vice principal and academic engagement officer. Her expertise in educational leadership and curriculum development spans public and charter school settings, and enables her to foster a high-performing and supportive environment for students and teachers.

Ms. Buchzeiger is also a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association of Economic Educators. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Central Michigan University as well as a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from University of Phoenix. Ms. Buchzeiger is a certified K–12 administrator with professional teaching certificates in social studies, history and economics, as well as a certified trainer of restorative practices through the International Institute of Restorative Practices.

Under Ms. Buchzeiger’s leadership, and through Lighthouse Connections Academy’s personalized learning process, students will work with Michigan-certified teachers who are skilled, passionate, and specifically trained in virtual instruction.
