Social Studies Teacher

Chintan Patel is a middle school social studies teacher at TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a master’s degree in teaching middle-level education. He began his career in 2016 and joined TEC Connections Academy in 2017. Academics was a strong focus in his upbringing, so Mr. Patel knew he wanted to make an impact by devoting his career to educating others.

He says, “TEC Connections Academy is a world like no other. I am surrounded by colleagues whom I consider to be like a second family. We are constantly helping one another to become better educators. We go into every school year with the same goal, and that is to provide a quality education to all of our students. I can honestly say that we stick to that goal every single day.

The term differentiation is thrown around a lot in education, and while the idea is nice, my previous experiences in education did not allow me to fully customize instruction to meet the strengths of each of my students. With the flexibility provided by virtual education, I have more opportunities to work with my students one-on-one or in small groups to truly teach them the content in a way that plays to their strengths.

TEC Connections Academy offers a high-quality and rigorous curriculum. We have highly qualified teachers who help students obtain information that will serve them well for years to come. Above all else, though, the school allows students to build skills of responsibility, integrity, and self-reliance. It is my opinion that these skills, combined with a quality education, enable our students to make a smooth transition into higher education or the job force when their high school education is complete.

At TEC Connections Academy we operate as a team. There is constant communication among the staff, students, and parents. We are all on the same page and working together to achieve one goal: to make sure our student achieves a successful, quality education. Making the transition to virtual education can be challenging, but if the commitment is made, the hard work will be that much more rewarding."

When he’s not teaching, Mr. Patel enjoys exploring the city and traveling. He also likes watching sports (“Go, Pats!”), and when the weather is nice, he likes to go golfing.
