Heidi Kent is an elementary school teacher at TEC Connections Academy Commonwealth Virtual School (TECCA). She earned a bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State College and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instructional Technology in education from Framingham State College. Ms. Kent also received a certification in special education. She shares more about her experience at TECCA below.
“I truly believe that an education at TECCA prepare students for a bright and successful future because the course structure helps students to be more independent than they would be at traditional school setting. I love the flexibility in a virtual school environment. The number one benefit of teaching at an online school is the constant opportunity to give students one-on-one attention, which you cannot give them in a bricks-and-mortar school. The staff at TECCA makes me feel like we are a family because we work together as a team to help students succeed.
I believe that what makes our school community so special is that we all come from many different places, yet everyone feels so close together. If there was one thing that I could tell a prospective parent who is making the decision to enroll, it would be that TECCA is here to help his or her child succeed, and we would do anything in our power to make that happen.”
When she is not teaching, Ms. Kent loves spending time with her family, caring for their many animals, and reading.
