Meet Our Iowa Connections Academy School Leader

Dr. James Brauer

James Brauer

“I am honored to lead Iowa Connections Academy and offer Iowa students and families an outstanding educational option that is innovative, effective, and completely individualized to learners’ needs. The state of Iowa has a rich history in education, and to be a part of Iowa’s first statewide K–12 virtual school is a very humbling experience. I look forward to working with families and educators throughout Iowa.”

Before joining our team at Iowa Connections Academy (IACA), Dr. Brauer spent time as both a school administrator and a teacher. Teaching within the USD #500 Kansas City, Kansas, urban school district within special education, Dr. Brauer later served as an assistant principal in the North Kansas School District, finally accepting the position to serve as our principal. In addition to these positions, Dr. Brauer worked in a variety of different capacities within the education field, including as an athletic coach, substitute teacher, and special education paraprofessional, among other roles.
