Maia Talbert

INCA student Maia playing piano

Maia Talbert is a high school student at Indiana Connections Academy (INCA). She lives with her family in Lafayette, Indiana. She is a bright and eager learner who has benefitted from the individual attention that she receives from her teachers.

Maia says, “When I joined Indiana Connections Academy, I was beginning the fifth grade. At first, I was a little nervous that the teachers might be a bit harsh, but they were not at all. The teachers at this school are very kind, and if I do not understand a concept in a particular class, they can explain it to me in a LiveLesson® session, through WebMail, or by phone. In addition, the students are encouraged to interact with their peers if they need assistance. Overall, I am definitely happy that I joined INCA.”

Maia’s father says, “INCA is a fantastic tool for tomorrow’s leaders. Maia has excelled beyond our expectations with the help of the talented staff and her Learning Coaches. Her mother takes on more of the full-time role, whereas I handle only math and science. It is quite amazing to actually see what my child is learning. With no distractions, a student can achieve a much greater understanding of the curriculum and process it correctly. Maia has aced her statewide test scores and received over 100 percent in every class. She even received 106 percent in science because of her ability to analyze and answer so precisely. We couldn’t be more proud of her! This is her second year with INCA and sure not to be the last.

In Maia’s spare time, she enjoys reading the Harry Potter series (for the two hundredth time) and the encyclopedia. Yes, I said the encyclopedia. She is also an avid piano player and is progressing fast with the help of her very talented piano teacher. She even writes her own music. Maia also has an exquisite voice for a twelve-year-old and loves to sing. She has entered several contests and has taken first place locally. She has also auditioned for America’s Got Talent. Though she was not selected, we will try again next year. She also loves to draw anything from manga/anime to futuristic scenes and joins any art class or program at the ready here in Lafayette–West Lafayette. Being an artist myself, I have noticed that she is quite good and has a keen eye for detail. Maia has aimed high for her goals in life, and she is truly a one-of-a-kind gifted kid! She would like three careers: (1) astrophysicist, (2) singer/songwriter, and (3) cartoonist.”
