Penny Sills is a Learning Coach with three elementary-age children who attend Indiana Connections Academy (INCA). Through INCA, Penny and her husband found the alternative education that they had been searching for.
“We started INCA in January of 2013. We had been struggling for several years with the idea of homeschooling Joey, Jace, and Lola. So, when my husband told me about an online school he had heard about on the radio (INCA), we decided to check it out. After reading all the success stories and asking many questions, we filled out the enrollment forms—and I feel like that is when our whole life changed for the better.
I truly love being a Learning Coach. My favorite part of any given day is hearing my children teach and share with one another. The flexibility is so great. We sometimes take our books and laptop and head to the library for the day or sit outside and read a book.
When I asked Joey, Jace, and Lola what they enjoy most about INCA, they all had the same answer. They love how they can work ahead on an assignment if they want to or take their time on an assignment if they need to. They also love when they get their books in the mail during the summer for the next school year.
I would say that my favorite thing about INCA is being able to play a big role in my children’s education. Whether it is grading their papers at the end of the day or giving them high-fives when they do well on a test, I am always there for the good or the bad—and I am there to help them when they need help.”
I would say that my favorite thing about INCA is just being able to play a big role in my children’s education.
