Karen L. Haines came to INSPIRE, the Idaho Connections Academy, with more than twenty years’ experience as an educator. She began her career as an elementary and middle school math teacher, while also working as a consultant for the Colorado Department of Education’s Migrant Program. Her administrative career started when she was hired to be a principal/teacher in a bush school, which is located on the confluence of the Koyukuk and Yukon Rivers in Alaska and only accessible by small aircraft. Ms. Haines taught kindergarten through fifth grade during the day and completed her administrative duties after the children were dismissed. Ms. Haines then took a position in the Yukon–Koyukuk School District based in Fairbanks, as the director of state and federal programs. She served eleven village schools as the director.

Wishing to be closer to family (the most important aspect of Ms. Haines’s life), she returned to Colorado with her husband and three children. She was an administrator for eight years within the Estes Park School District before moving to Eagle, Idaho. She is thrilled to be the principal at INSPIRE and looks forward to serving students, their families, and staff around the state of Idaho!
