Why I Became a Teacher
I am compelled to make a positive difference. After nearly a decade of a variety of jobs, I wanted a fulfilling and purposeful career where I could make a lasting impact in the lives of others. With many family members and friends in education, I began exploring this path and became enamored with the magic of learning, including teacher development, classroom and school management, understanding how people learn, and so much more.
The Online School Experience at Georgia Connections Academy
Education is not "one-size-fits-all." Our school provides a unique learning opportunity for unique learners. The flexibility and personalization of the virtual environment allow students to develop in their areas of need and thrive in their areas of strength. We recognize many students have limited educational options available. For many, our school is a lifesaver in a storm of educational challenges and frustrations.
In the 5th & 6th Grade Academy, we host morning announcements at 8:30 a.m. every school day, setting the tone for the day and developing a positive school culture. Students may attend LiveLesson® sessions every day at 9:00 a.m. and visit with their teachers for office hours at 11:00 a.m. We have Recess in the afternoons, virtual field trips, and other exciting virtual engagement opportunities to allow students to interact with one another.
Students are challenged to develop the study habits, routines, and skills necessary to be self-motivated, independent learners. Students who succeed leave with the ability to manage a workload and to take ownership of their learning.
Education is not "one-size-fits-all." Our school provides a unique learning opportunity for unique learners.

Message for Prospective Families Choosing Online School
Give online school a try, be prepared to learn, and don't give up. All new students and families take a few months to get comfortable. Ask questions, try things, and find what works best for you and your student.
My Interests
My family and I are obsessed with Disney fans. We enjoy traveling anywhere, but especially to Walt Disney World whenever we get the chance!
