Why I Became a Teacher

I have always loved sharing knowledge. Although I earned a degree in the science field, my passion was collaborating and teaching others to explore ideas. So, I combined the two and began teaching in 2012. I discovered how powerful teaching is.

I fell in love with teaching as I watched students light up when discovering new information or achieving success when they thought they couldn’t. I later developed a passion for STEM and teaching 21st-century skills. I believe our job as educators is to develop lifelong learners and to coach students to think critically and collaborate with others.

The Online School Experience at Coastal Connections Academy

I love teaching at Coastal Connections Academy! My goal is to bridge the gap between the brick-and-mortar school and the online environment. Teaching virtually can be challenging, but Coastal provides me with the flexibility to implement engaging activities with my students and build close relationships with them. This makes learning online easier for my students and families.

My LiveLesson® sessions are an ever-changing experience for students. The platform allows me to integrate all sorts of extra resources. Students can interact and build relationships with one another and with me!
