Why I Became a Teacher

I was a college athlete and went to school to pursue a degree in sports administration. Part of the sports administration program involved teaching adaptive physical education at the North Florida School for Special Education, which is where my love for exceptional student education (ESE) began. I love building relationships with the students and seeing the looks on their faces when they’re learning.

The Online School Experience at Coastal Connections Academy

I enjoy teaching online because it allows the students to interact more, since they’re in their own element and feel more comfortable. It’s also great to hear what’s going on in their lives as we build strong relationships.

To foster active engagement, I encourage students to turn on their cameras and we start every LiveLesson® session with Sharing Good News. We also use interactive elements within our lessons, such as Kahoot!, Nearpod, EdPuzzle, and more.

Message for Families Considering Online School

Coastal Connections Academy is more than a school. It’s a place where your students can feel at home (in their own home) and as part of a family that cares for and looks out for each other.

It also allows students to take charge of their own education. It builds a sense of confidence, which helps them work towards becoming a life-long learner.

Hobbies and Interests

I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy traveling to watch my son play baseball and basketball, as well as to watch my daughter compete in gymnastics.
