Special Education Teacher
"I have taught since the dark ages! I taught at a brick-and-mortar middle school and high school in Adrian, MI as a special education, and retired from that position. I spent a couple of years working as an 'employment specialist" for a nonprofit company, assisting adults with disabilities in finding employment. Most recently, I was employed as the Manager of Special Education at Great Lakes Cyber Academy, a CA school in Michigan where I drove 150 miles round trip daily to work in the office. I resigned from that position just short of 5 years and elected to work for Pearson Online and Blended Learning as a substitute teacher.
Karen Thomson, a longtime friend and former co-worker, made me aware of the Special Education opening here at Utah Connections Academy and I was happy to join the family.
Some fun facts about me are that I have always lived in the true "Mitten" state of Michigan. I live within 10 miles of where I grew up. I have one wonderful daughter, one awesome son-in-law, 0 grandchildren and 2 granddogs. I will be spending my second winter as a snowbird in Florida after the holidays. I am really looking forward to being warm again! I have owned 3 Harley Davidson motorcycles during my adult life, but none now."
